“Winning the title of Mrs. United States has opened a door of endless opportunities; to represent a program that recognizes and honors confident, intelligent, beautiful and successful married women and a National platform to promote my goal of saving lives through organ donation. Thousands of people in the United States are waiting for the gift of life; one is a parent of mine. As Mrs. United States, I am thrilled to be afforded the chance to continue my efforts on a National level”.

Shannon Devine, Mrs. United States 2006, is a Musculoskeletal Specialty Manager with Genzyme Biosurgery, one of the world''s foremost biotechnology companies dedicated to making a major positive impact on the lives of people with serious diseases. Shannon has received many honors during her sales career including; double recipient of Johnson & Johnson’s prestigious “Aristeia” Award, Regional Rookie of the Year and District Representative of the Year.

Shannon is committed to saving lives through Organ Donation. Medical advances have made transplantation of the heart, liver, lung, kidneys, pancreas, intestines and many tissues possible, despite the continuing advances in medicine and technology, the demand for organs drastically exceeds the number of donors. As Mrs. United States, Shannon will combine her proven sales experience along with her personal conviction about organ donation to educate and empower others to give the gift of life. Your decision to become an organ donor can save or enhance the lives of up to 50 people. It is critical to let your loved ones know if you want to become an organ/tissue donor.

Shannon and her husband Jason will celebrate their 6th wedding anniversary in December, 2006. Jason, a former officer in the United States Air Force, is a Sales Representative with AstraZeneca and a full-time student at Gardner Webb University obtaining a Master of Divinity Degree.

Shannon is a graduate of Appalachian State University where she was a member of the Pi Gamma Mu National Honor Society, Alpha Phi International Sorority and the ASU Dance Team. She funded her education through the Miss America scholarship program. She is a former Teen Miss North Carolina and was recognized on the state level for her community service work with Hospice.

Shannon also won the “physical fitness award” in the 2006 Mrs. United States Pageant. She enjoys yogilates, swimming and snow skiing in the NC Mountains. She says her physical fitness inspiration comes from her husband, Jason, who has completed the Grandfather Mountain Marathon and multiple full century cycling rides.

Shannon & Jason are the proud aunt & uncle of two beautiful five-year-old nieces, Hannah & Lizzy and one handsome nephew, Hunter, who is nine. The Devine’s look forward to an amazing year of travel and life-changing experiences and….adopting their first child from China!

“Our lives are not determined by what happens to us but by how we react to what happens, not by what life brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life. A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes. It is a catalyst, a spark that creates extraordinary results.” Anon.
